First Annual General Meeting of the Guildford New Cathedral Fund Council April 1955
The Committee invited Miss Iredale to continue to serve as Secretary to the Council for a period which it was hoped would cover the Dedication of the Cathedral. She accepted.
Consideration was given to either start the 7 bays of the Nave or 3 but try to finish them at the earliest possible time. There was considerable discussion on whether there were funds to support this. Seven bays was unanimously approved.
Preliminary consideration was given to the building of the Provost’s and two other clergy houses. The Chairman reported he had obtained planing permission (on submission of our outline plan from the Architect) for these and for proposed Verger’s and Groundsman’s at the Southern entrance gates.
Suggestions for the commemorative paving stone were approved to mark the visit by Princess Margaret, subject to consultation with the Bishop and Chapter.
Miss Iredale presented reports on various things.
