February 1st 1929, Minutes: A list of those present and apologies. “Mr Merriman pointed out the terms of the lease can not be fixed until the site of the Cathedral proper and the position of the particular five acres offered by Lord Onslow are determined”. The Bishop read out extracts from a letter from Mr Tapper P.R.I.B.A. on which he advised on the selection of the Architect for the Cathedral. It was agreed that the names of Sir Edwin Cooper and Sir Herbert Baker should be given to Mr Tapper to select for a position of adviser as to the layout.
Friday 5th July 1929, Minutes: A list of those present and apologies. “The grateful thanks of the Committee was given to Lord Onslow for his generous gift of the site for the Cathedral and for the generous terms upon which he has offered to the Committee an option upon the adjoining land”. Names of Architects were suggested to submit plans of the proposed Cathedral. A sub-committee was appointed to workout the details of the instruction to be given to the competing Architects.
