Cathedral Minutes, April 1951
The Provost repeated what he had said on former occasions that as the Cathedral was also a Parish Church it was difficult to arrange for the Canons to preach in regular order. The Chapter Clerk quoted the relevant statutes with regard to the question of preaching, vis “unless prevented by sickness or other unavoidable cause each honorary Canon shall preach in the Cathedral when invited by the Provost to do so”
A suggestion was made that Canons’ should be entitled to wear some distinctive vestment tippett and or a scarf with the arms of the diocese worked upon them. The Provost would consult the Bishop on the advisability of this project.
