Cathedral Minutes, June 1944
The provost said that he hoped that all members of the Chapter would feel a personal interest and a close contact with the Cathedral at this early stage. He could not suggest definite arrangements with regard to the preaching of the Canons in the Cathedral but he hoped to do so at a later date. In the meantime he would welcome their presence at Evensong and on such occasions they could read one or both of the lessons if they were so disposed. Questions were raised on the whereabouts of the Canons’ chairs which were purchased by the member at the time of the inauguration and also to the seating of the Canons’ when attending the Cathedral services in their official capacity. Other suggestions were discussed
