Cathedral Minutes June 1957
The Provost reported the arrangements made for the Queen’s visit.
The Lanesborough scheme for the choir school met with general approval of the Chapter. It was suggested that to begin with there should not be scholarships of the highest value of £80 p.a. Payments to Choristers would be dependent on the Organist’s report.
The Provost was asked to write to Sir Edward Maufe to say that the Chapter desired to be brought into consultation about vestments and furnishings and to see the designs.
The Provost reported that the new Cathedral was to be a ‘peculiar’. The Church Commissioners had said they would not pay for additional Canons who would be needed for this function.
