Cathedral Minutes November 1959
Now that the date for the Consecration had been fixed for May 31st 1960, the New Cathedral Fund Council was the authority responsible for the building of the New Cathedral and its ancillary buildings, so it was urgent to put plans in place for the erection of houses.
The Provost stressed the need for the Chapter to make a list of the main projects required in connection with the New Cathedral with an assessment of their relative importance.
It was reported that the Rural Deans had asked that Deanery Services should be held in the New Cathedral on the weekdays immediately following the Consecration Service because only a small proportion of the laity of the Diocese could be accommodated at the actual Consecration Service. This was approved.
