Minutes of the Executive Committee of the Guildford New Cathedral Council, January 1962
‘Miss Iredale said that in 1951 she had accepted with much misgiving the invitation of the then Bishop of Guildford to look into the problem of the building of the Cathedral and had agreed if after three or six months she saw no hope of the work becoming effective she should not be bound. At that time there had been almost universal opposition to the building of the Cathedral’
The Committee agreed that the date of Miss Iredale’s formal retirement should be the 31st May, 1962, but because of her long service and the fact that her service carried no pension she should receive leave from the end of May to the end of December 1962 i.e. seven months salary.
A enclosed copy of appreciation for Miss Iredale’s work was given to the press in 1962.
