Committee Meeting of the Broderers Guild January 1962
Mrs Wilson asked if more surplices were needed because she had seen in a newspaper report that the choir had to appear without surplices at Christmas because there were insufficient to allow for laundering. The Dean explained that the full choir was required at Christmas so both sets of surplices had to be ready at the same time. He thought that now proper arrangements for laundering had begun this should not happen again. The Dean added that the neck openings of all surplices were wider than necessary. If they were a closer fit they would have a tidier appearance and be more comfortable. Mrs Wison said she alter one as a sample.
Mrs Wilson reported there had been some trouble with rings coming off kneelers and asked if there was any other method of attaching them. Lady Maufe would enquire. Eighty more kneelers were completed in November making a total of 854. She reported she had had enquiries from Canadian visitors. Lady Maufe answered that no plans could be made at this juncture.
A request had been received for the Guildford Broderers to make a stall cushion for St. George’s Cathedral, Jerusalem. Miss Taylor was asked to find out more about the scheme and report back.
