Committee Meeting of the Broderers Guild October 1961
The Archdeacon of DorkingĀ [acting Sub-Dean] confirmed in a letter that the chest from Farnham Castle was the property of the Broderers Guild. However the cupboard in the Sacristy was not the one owned by the Guild. That cupboard was still in Farnham Castle but it was badly infested by wood-worm. The committee agreed that this cupboard should be left at Farnham Castle.
The Treasurer reported the balance had decreased. Miss Purves said she would add a footnote to her existing notices in the Cathedral suggesting that those interested in the kneelers and could not work on them might like to contribute to funds.
Mrs Wilson reported she had four surplices for the smallest size being worked on and also twelve neckerchiefs. Lady Maufe had still not been able to obtain information on what was still required so suggested the rest of the linen should be used up on surplices of the smallest size.
Miss Taylor reported she had handed over eight finished alms bags for mounting and wished to know how many were still required. Lady Maufe answered that the target figure was 49. The head verger would be able to say how many were in use.
The committee would like to see the Dean if he felt he could spare the time. Lady Maufe agreed to speak to the Dean. Before the meeting broke up the Dean arrived and said to Lady Maufe he would be pleased to come onto the committee.
