Guildford Cathedral Broderers Guild March 17th 1936
This meeting was to consider the formation of the Cathedral Broderers Guild. There were 50 to 60 people present. Mrs Maufe gave a report on the work done by the Broderers at Winchester and outlined proposals for Guildford. It was unanimously decided a guild should be formed and a small committee was formed. All forms of handicraft should be included under the name of Cathedral Broderers, such as weaving, dyeing, plain needlework, machine work, rug making, white work of all kinds, canvas work, silk embroidery, leatherwork etc.
52 persons volunteered to become members.
