Present at this service were The Very Rev. W. Boulton – Provost of Guildford, The Rev. R.C.L. Pilgrim – Chaplain to the Forces; Major-General J.F. Metcalfe – Colonel of the Queen’s Royal Surrey Regiment; Lieut.- Colonel D.L. Lloyd Owen – the last Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion The Queen’s Royal Regiment, Lieut.-Colonel G.A. White – the last Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion The East Surrey Regiment. The Colour Party consisted of: Lieutenant P.A. Gray, Lieutenant D.J.C. Dickins, 2/Lieutenant R.W. Acworth, 2/Lieutenant A.C. Ward. The Escort comprised: C.S. M.K. Yonwin, Sergeant P. Jennings, Sergeant M.F. Pearson._x000D_

A printed card stating that ‘The collection will be given to the Cathedral Building Fund, and the Colonel of the Regiment hopes that past and present members of the regiment will give generously, and so make the offering worthy of the occasion’.
