‘Details of the Icon in Lady Chapel’. Believed to be of Greek Orthodox origin c17th century, from some part of Asia Minor (now Turkey). Many Greek churches in the region were destroyed following World War I and this icon was found in a poor state in the bazaar in Istanbul and purchased by H J Buxton, Bishop of Guildford. Note also outlines the form and original purpose of an icon. N..d.
