Leaping Stag
8 patterns for the Leaping Stag Kneeler, all on card. a) is a colour design in mainly blue watercolours on squared paper, signed by Edward Maufe, b) is a watercolour with a more rounded design mainly in browns, signed by Edward Maufe, on the reverse of which is c) a biro outline design on squared paper. d) is a biro pen outline drawing on squared paper with some extra annotations in pencil, e) is a blue biro pen outline drawing with further detail and shading added in pencil, f) is a copy of a pen outline design signed by Edward Maufe, g) is a copy of a pen outline drawing on larger squared paper with colour annotations added in pencil along the edges and an annotation on the reverse stating “Upright Stag”, h) is a biro pen outline and rough watercolour design. a), b), c), d) and e) show a design with a leaping stag at the centre and a cathedral plan at the top right, f) & g) show a standing stag with flame motifs around, and h) shows the leaping stag design in the bottom left corner and a shield with crossed sword and keys at the top right.
