Minutes of Cathedral Site Committee 1928
November 6th 1928, Minutes: the Diocesan Conference appointed a Cathedral Committee. There is a list of the names of those appointed.
December 14th 1928, Minutes: a list of those present and a list of apologies. It was decided that an Architect be invited by the Committee, to act as an adviser for the lay-out of the site and the procedure by which the choice of an Architect and designs for the Cathedral should be named. Leasing of the site was discussed, “That Lord Onslow be asked to grant a legal contract for the lease of the site on Stag Hill on the terms submitted by him and that Mr Merriman be asked to act as solicitor on behalf of the Committee on this matter”.
They also discussed an offer from Mr Raxworthy (Lloyds Bank) for raising money for the Cathedral, there is a copy of the letter of the offer dated November 20th 1928.
