Cathedral Minutes, October 1948
The Provost opened a discussion on “the report of the Parish Church Cathedrals Commissioning” which had been received from the Church Assembly. The Provost pointed out that Holy Trinity Church would revert to a Parish Church status when the new Cathedral was so far advanced that its proper functions could be discharged.
Canon Clitherow said it would be appropriate to arrange some service of Thanksgiving to mark the recommencement of the building of the new Cathedral. After discussion it was decided that a day be set apart as a Diocesan Sunday of Thanksgiving and that this should be announced in the Diocesan Gazette. The Provost proposed that there should be two meetings of the Chapter each year – namely the statutory meeting, on or near May 1st and on Sunday in October, this was agreed by the Chapter.
