It was agreed that an annual service be held in the Cathedral for the benefit of all Cathedral builders and Low Sunday was suggested as a suitable date.
The arrangements for the Flag day to be held on September 24th were reported to be in hand.
Mr Powell had invited the outgoing and incoming Mayors and Chairmen of Councils throughout the diocese to an informal visit at the Cathedral and tea on Friday May 20th, Sir Edward and Lady Maufe hope to show the guests the Cathedral and the exhibition originally arranged for Princess Margaret’s visit.
A fund by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths contained adequate resources for putting in hand further plate required particularly for the High Altar, Sir Edward Maufe was asked to obtain the necessary designs and estimates.
Designs for the Processional Cross given by the late Archdeacon Newill in memory of his wife should be prepared.
It was suggested that an electronic organ be placed in the Cathedral this summer for three months. The purpose of this was to test its suitability. This proposal would be referred to the Committee in six months time.
It was agreed to the provision of seven Lantern Windows on each side of the Nave, at a cost of £1000 each and the policy of inviting different professions to subscribe to a window.
