Cathedral Minutes October 1954
It was agreed that the Provost, Canon Hughes and the Archdeacon of Dorking should form a sub-committee in relation to the choir school and explore the possibility of a site on the by-pass near the Woking road. The matter was raised as to the eligibility of such a school to receive charitable grants.
The Provost said that Mr Dussek had been consulting with Dr Andrews, the organist of New College, Oxford. Much advance had been made with electronic organs whereas a pipe organ might cost £30,000 and an electronic organ might be obtained for £12,000 and a temporary £2000 electronic organ installed which could afterwards be included in the final instrument. It was felt that an expert should be called in whose name should carry weight such as the organist of St. Paul’s Cathedral. The Provost was to explore this subject in consultation with Mr Dussek.
