Minutes of the Executive Committee of the Guildford New Cathedral Council, March 1961
The Committee recommended that ever endeavour should be made to continue the work of building after Consecration without any break and they agreed the first task should be to build the Sacristy. This would be subject to obtaining the agreement of those who had made interest free loans on the understanding that no further building would be approved before such loans had been paid.
Miss Iredale reported on the agreement on the televising of the Service of Consecration and a preview on television the night before the Consecration.
The organ was being installed with a gift of one of the Cathedral’s subscribers.
It was reported that the building of the Clergy houses was behind schedule, by what the architect estimated as about eight weeks, owning to the persistent rain in the Autumn months.
The Provost reported that the acoustics, though admirable from the point of view of the spoken word were not adequate for music and singing of the choir.
