Lord Hamilton reported that all possible steps had been taken to trace all missing Brick Books. 1,017 was still unaccounted for. The honorary auditors were satisfied there was no evidence of dishonesty or misappropriation.
A detailed discussion on the finances took place. The Committee instructed the Secretary to draft a statement to issue to the press in September setting out the present position of the Cathedral and the building policy adopted for the immediate future, coupled with an appeal for funds to enable work to proceed continuously and to be completed as soon as possible.
Attention was drawn to the inadequacy of the Refectory and its lavatory accommodation..
The Chapter Clerk reported a recent stoppage in the drainage system.
