Cathedral Minutes of Sub-Committee of Chapter May 1961
Mr Whitel found it difficult to accept the offer of Treasurer without some responsible person to receive and to take care of the money on site. Transitional arrangements for the Verger to be responsible for the safe keeping of money on site and taking it to Mr Whitel’s office. Mr Whitel’s responsibilities would not commence until money had been received by him in this way.
The Committee decided to recommend to the Chapter that Mr Taft, the custodian, should be asked to act as part time assistant Verger, under terms to be negotiated. It is agreed the customary Summer Fete, formerly run be the Conventional District, should be held this summer on the Cathedral Green.
It was resolved that funds held by the Conventional District should be handed over to the Dean and Chapter after constitution without prejudice to any future arrangements.
